CLIFTON ARMS HOTEL
Lytham St. Annes, Blackpool
Still a working hotel some
sixty-five-plus years after
Stan and Babe stayed there. |
Blackpool,
Britain's No.1 tourist resort,
played
host to the world's No.1 comedy team on two occasions.
The first was a one night stay at the Metropole Hotel, in 1932
when, upon their arrival,
Laurel and Hardy fans filled the whole of the area shown in the photo
above
left.
June 1947 found
Laurel and Hardy doing
a one-week appearance at the Palace Theatre
on the seafront, whilst staying just outside Blackpool, at the Clifton
Arms Hotel, Lytham St. Annes.
The Gigantic Wheel, The
Palace Theatre,
Blackpool (with the twin
flag peaks),
and the Blackpool Tower (circa 1927).
